Innovation Activation Manager, QFC

JJI JLABS is recruiting an Innovation Activation Manager to provide global, strategic oversight and management of the JLABS Programs and the QuickFire Challenges (QFC).  This role is responsible for supporting the strategic planning, and leading the branding, development and implementation of marketing initiatives for the JLABS Programs and QuickFire Challenges and each individual Challenge.  This position will be in charge of managing the online assets utilized in marketing campaigns. Additionally, this position will manage local JLABS Activation Leads in order to leverage established marketing channels, manage approval of all marketing materials and manage speaking opportunities, especially in regards to the launch and announcement of each Challenge, and media requests.

Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS (“JLABS”) is a division of Johnson & Johnson Innovation (“JJI”) and is a network of life science incubators providing emerging companies many of the advantages of being in a big company, without the capital investment. JLABS offers singular bench tops, modular wet lab units and office space on a short-term basis, allowing companies to pay only for the space they need, with an option to quickly expand when they have the resources to do so. Companies residing at JLABS also have access to core research labs hosting specialized capital equipment and shared administrative areas.

In addition to the bricks and mortar elements, JLABS produces year-round commercialization curriculum, called JLABS Programs and runs a series of business competitions called the JLABS QuickFire Challenges (QFC).  JLABS Programs, produced across all JLABS sites are community engagement vehicles that provide access to education, information and networks to startups.  These programs are marketed via an integrated marketing approach comprised primarily of online engagement such as e-marketing and social media.  The JLABS QuickFire Challenges are competitions designed to unleash the competitive spirit of the innovation ecosystem and inspire the best in science and technology by providing real world challenges and granting a variety of awards to the top applicants.  These Challenges have attracted game-changing, early-stage innovation in the Therapeutics, Consumer, Health Technologies and Med Device sectors and have offered a variety of prizes, including: cash and/or lab space, benefits from world-class lab facilities, support by an onsite team and access to a global network of industry experts and programming.   JLABS Programs and the JLABS QuickFire Challenges are at the core of what makes the JLABS environment a thriving innovative ecosystem that goes beyond the critical infrastructure, space and services.

In order to support JLABS’ mission, the successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Proactively interact with the internal JLABS QuickFire Challenge team and broader teams within JLABS and JNJ 
  • Be client service  and action oriented
  • Be accountable for milestones, expectations, metrics tracking and reporting related to the QuickFire Challenges
  • Be innately curious and maintain a positive, high-energy, and fun working environment; and
  • Foster a proactive “can do” culture of shared responsibility wherein team members collaborate to solve problems.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Hospitality, Business or a related discipline is required.
  • A proven performer with a minimum of 6 years of marketing experience is required.
  • Experience developing event content and advertising of content is strongly preferred.
  • eMarketing experience preferred.
  • Exceptional writing skills are required.
  • Experience in a health care setting or industry association is preferred.
  • Experience working with and managing vendors and consultants, and managing budgets is preferred.
  • Experience in managing social media is preferred.
  • Must be detail orientated and have strong personal leadership skills.
