Elena Fernandez-Kleinlein

Interim Head, JLABS EMEA

In an interim capacity, Elena is responsible for delivering on the goals and objectives for JLABS in Europe. Her responsibilities include P&L management, external engagement, innovation sourcing, company onboarding, portfolio management, operational excellence and educational programming in collaboration with the team responsible for the site and the region. In this role, she will support and catalyze the translation of science and technology into valuable solutions for patients and consumers across pharma, medical devices and consumer healthcare.

Elena has grown up in the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, previously holding product development roles within Consumer R&D for a variety of Franchises such as Baby, Wound Care and Women’s Health in Germany and the US. In 2013 she joined Johnson & Johnson Innovation at the London Innovation Center and has been instrumental in scouting, landscaping and evaluating early stage disruptive technologies and new business models, including digital end to end platforms with products, diagnostics, devices and services to grow and maintain a portfolio of innovative external partnerships, collaborations and investments in key strategic areas within J&J’s Consumer business.

She has extensive experience working with start-up companies and helping them de-risk, co-create and scale up their value proposition and supporting them in their commercialization. She has created the Consumer Ambassador network in EMEA, is a passionate people leader and provides mentorship and coaching to entrepreneurs. Elena holds a BS and MS in Food Science & Technology from the Technical University Munich, Germany.
