Why did you choose science as a career?
One morning my high school biology teacher came in and read us a chapter from "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" by Robert M. Pirsig, about using the scientific method to solve problems. I remember this moment clearly - I felt I was just given a new set of tools to play with. It has been an exciting ride ever since.
Why are you passionate about what you're working on?
At endogena we operate in the field of regenerative medicine. The idea that we could harness the power of our own stem cells for repairing tissues and organs and restore their lost function was classified as science fiction up until a few years ago. At endogena we are creating tomorrow's reality by offering a change of medical treatment paradigm for degenerative diseases.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to young women in the life science sector?
Day-to-day work as a scientist can be frustrating at times, and might wear you out. Keep your focus on the big picture and your journey will be adventurous.
