Dear JLABS Residents,

Please join us for exclusive presentations by two recognized thought leaders from GE Healthcare. We are pleased to have Mr Parrish Galliher and Dr. John Daicic at JLABS @ SSF on May 4th in a rare, small group, presentation.

Lessons learned within the established biopharmaceutical industry can help progress your biologic pipeline closer to manufacturability. This tour showcases industry thought leaders from both upstream and downstream process development and manufacturing.

Mr. Parrish Galliher founded Xcellerex Inc. in 2002, later acquired by GE Healthcare. In 2012, he received the BioProcess International Award as "Thought Leader of the Decade", for Upstream Processing. Parrish will be giving a talk on the past, present and future of stainless steel and single use manufacturing.

Dr. John Daicic leads a team working with development and support of the process chromatography resin product portfolio at GE Healthcare. Dr Daicic will be giving a talk addressing purification challenges of the next generation antibody-like molecules and novel chromatography resins being developed for addressing those challenges.

Presentations:

Past, present, and future of stainless steel and single-use manufacturing - given by Mr Parrish Galliher
This presentation will provide an overview of manufacturing technologies, from stainless steel and hybrid approaches, to modern single-use innovations. We will review how these technologies can further lower costs, increase speed, and ensure product quality in process development, manufacturing, and facility operations. The possible benefits and downsides of the innovations in each arena will also be discussed.

The next generation antibody-like molecules - given by Dr. John Daicic
More than 50% of all biopharmaceutical revenues today come from MAbs, but a current trend indicates an ongoing transition towards molecules with higher potency and thus smaller production volumes. Different antibody-like molecules are generating a high level of interest and are referred to as the next generation of drugs. This presentation will discuss purification challenges for these molecules and how they can be addressed. Novel affinity chromatography media will be highlighted as well as several case studies.

Speakers:

Dr. John Daicic | Director Bioprocess Media, GE Healthcare
In his current role as Director BioProcess Media, Dr. John Daicic leads a team working with development and support of the process chromatography medium (resin) product portfolio at GE Healthcare. John has a solid academic background, including a Ph.D. in physics and several postdoctoral positions. John has worked closely with harmaceutical manufacturers and biotechnology companies during his professional career. Since joining GE 2006, he has held various management positions at within R&D.
