[Vancouver, BC] Turning Invention into Innovation

Mar 1 2018https://www.eventbrite.com/e/vancouver-bc-turning-invention-into-innovation-tick...

Have you ever had a great discovery but got stuck because you didn’t know how to translate your work in the lab into a viable product for patients?

Canada has an excellent track record for invention, but struggles with innovation. In particular, scientific inventions of a radical, generic nature, with high potential economic and social value, can languish in the lab because of prolonged uncertainty and high commercialization costs.

As a scientist, how do you give your lab invention a better chance of transforming products and services from concept to commercialization? When is a start-up venture the best route to market? How do you raise the money to make it through clinical trials?

We are proud to present Professor Elicia Maine, who will offer commercialization strategies for scientist-entrepreneurs. In particular, she will focus on the use of strategic timing to give biomedical ventures better chances for success.
