Hero Medical & Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Named Awardees in Johnson & Johnson Nurses Innovate in Perioperative Care QuickFire Challenge

November 11, 2019 —  In honor of Perioperative Nurses WeekJohnson & Johnson Innovation - JLABS, together with the Association of periOperative Nursing (AORN), announced today that Hero Medical & Johns Hopkins School of Nursing have been selected as the awardees in Johnson & Johnson Nurses Innovate QuickFire Challenge in Perioperative Care.  The Challenge was designed with the aim to accelerate innovation that aims to improve perioperative care and change human health, including solutions that aim to address the physical and psychological impact of patients throughout pre, intra, and post-operative care.

To advance their research, Hero Medical & Johns Hopkins School of Nursing will receive a combined total of $100,000 in grant funding, access to the Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS ecosystem; and mentorship from experts at the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies.

Hero Medical: Florida-based Hero Medical created the HERO  Bandage, a simple one-piece wound care dressing for the head, limb or digits, designed for improved self-care and monitoring of chronic wounds.

Johns Hopkins School of Nursing: Chao Hsing Yeh, PhD, RN and her team are developing a wireless auricular point stimulation © 2019, JHU, to provide a non-invasive, self-administered and nonpharmacological treatment for pre-, intra- and postoperative pain.

The QuickFire Challenges are managed by Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS, with the aim to address today’s greatest health care challenges.
