Why I'm a JPAL
I have always been energized by the creative process. My background is diverse within ophthalmology holding director level positions in R&D, Operations, and Global Marketing. Within each role, I have collaborated with my team to seek creative approaches to business and technical problems. In my role within Upstream Marketing, I have had the opportunity to interface with a number of early-stage companies seeking to develop and commercialize creative solutions to unmet needs. I am passionate about innovation and look forward to interfacing with those who share that desire.
30+ years of experience in ophthalmic medical devices divided between technical and commercial roles. From both the R&D and Commercial perspective, I have been a member of due diligence teams resulting in a number of acquisitions. Technically, I have previously served as R&D director of an organization which developed surgical equipment platforms for the extraction of cataracts. I am a co-inventor on over 50 US patents, predominately in the area of cataract extraction. Commercially, have held global responsibility for strategic marketing in surgical equipment and glaucoma devices. Most recently, responsible for global upstream marketing for both organic and external development activities in Surgical Vision. In this role, I am also responsible for assessment of targets, generation of market models, and development of business cases.
