Overview

As of 2018, there are nearly 18 million Veterans in the United States,[1] yet American military Veterans are nearly twice as likely to be self-employed compared to non-Veterans and are majority owners in nine percent of all businesses nationwide[2]. To help empower and enable Veterans to share potential solutions for keeping their community healthy, we feel we must seek to provide opportunities that allow their unique perspectives to be heard.

To that end, Johnson & Johnson Innovation, together with Johnson & Johnson Office of Military and Veterans Affairs and Bunker Labs, is proud to announce the first of the Veterans Lead QuickFire Challenge series calling for Innovations by Vets. U.S. Veteran[3] innovators and military spouses/legal partners [4] are invited to submit ideas with the potential to advance science or technologies in pharmaceuticals, consumer health, medical devices, health technologies, or cross-sector initiatives.

The innovator(s) with the best idea, technology, or potential solution will receive grant funding from a total of up to $250,000, access to the Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS ecosystem, and mentorship from experts across the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies.
